OSTROGOTHS. Uncertain king, early to mid 6th century. 42 Nummi (Copper, 26 mm, 9.43 g, 7 h), engraved on an as of Vespasian (69-79). IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS V CENS Laureate head of Vespasian to right; before, XLII (engraved mark of value = 42 Nummi). Rev. AEQVITAS AVGVST / S - C Aequitas standing front, head to left, holding scales in her right hand and long scepter in her left. Cf. MEC 1, 71-72 (differing undertypes). For undertype, cf. RIC 720. Rare. Somewhat corroded, otherwise, very fine.
